Last month we traveled to Coker Tire in Tennessee to be part of their Chattanooga Cruise-In. Accompanying us was a 1953 beautiful Jaguar XK 120 Drophead Coupe. Restored by Robbie Ferris of Speedwell Restorations, the car was a major crowd pleaser. The Atlanta Concours d’Elegance booth was well appointed with this outstanding example of a classic car restoration. Many thanks to the Coker Tire group for allowing us to be part of their great event.
Our next destination was Road Atlanta for their annual Walter Mitty weekend. Flanking our exhibit space was our sponsor’s Panoz LMP1 Roadster and a Ferrari 330 P3/4 recreation by Norwood, compliments of its owner and Atlanta Concours Advisory Board member, Mr. Ron Green. Also in the mix was a rare 930 turbo Porsche owned by our advisory board member, Mr. Alan Boe. As the crowds gathered, attendees expressed their delight in seeing these astonishing automobiles. Thank you to the sponsors of that event, Classic Motorsports Magazine.
Returning to Atlanta, we closed the month attending the annual Cars & Q show benefitting the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation. The producers of this event are clearly making headway exhibiting more than 90 rare and significant cars which were displayed at the headquarters of Choate Construction. In four hours, Cars & Q raised more than $200,000.00 for a great cause. We displayed the Panoz LMP-1 race winning champion to compliment our exhibit. Thanks to our advisory board member, Cars & Q producer Emily Choate for including us in this outstanding Atlanta event. We can’t wait for next year!
After a wonderful show we put on our coats and ties to attend the annual fundraiser for our non-profit partner, the Alzheimer’s Association. More than 1000 people attended the beautiful dinner and show featuring local celebrities paired with professional dancers in a judged “dancing with the stars” event. Coupled with a live auction and online donations for your favorite couples, the Alzheimer’s Association raised more than $750,000.00. We are very excited about their participation in the Atlanta Concours d’Elegance Honoree Gala planned for Saturday, October 8 in the ballroom at Chateau Elan Winery and Resort. Tickets for the event will be available in June on the Alzheimer’s Association website.
Only five months until the show opens at Chateau Elan in October. We are prepared to greet thousands of guests and move more than 500 cars during the two day event. Every day brings new relationships with car collectors, corporate sponsors,, community professionals, and enthusiastic volunteers. Again a big thanks to everyone who is supporting us in this exciting endeavor.
