RARE RACE CARS TO BE ON DISPLAY AT THE CLASSIC MOTORSPORTS MITTY

Find the Norwood Replica 1967 Ferrari 330 P4 and Panoz LMP-1 Roadster-S Show Car at The Atlanta Concours d’Elegance Booth

ATLANTA (April  19, 2016) Examples of two underdog champions of endurance racing will be on hand at The Atlanta Concours d’Elegance booth at the Classic Motorsports Mitty presented by Hagerty this weekend, April 22-24, at Road Atlanta.

On one side of the booth, attendees will see a Norwood-made replica of the 1967 Ferrari 330 P4. This rare reproduction is a faithful recreation of Ferrari P series prototype chassis #0856, which was part of the legendary 1-2-3, side-by-side Ferrari finish at the 1967 running of the 24 Hours of Daytona.

The 1-2-3 Ferrari finish at the race that year is particularly notable because the boutique automaker beat out Ford Motor Company’s GT40 Mk. II, signifying a historical moment in the legendary racing battle between Ford’s Henry Ford II and Ferrari’s Enzo Ferrari. Leading up to the race, Ford Motor Company had been pouring hundreds of thousands of dollars into their dominant racing program while Ferrari’s team was spending far less competing for the same prize.

On the other side of the booth will be the Panoz LMP-1 Roadster-S, rarely seen in public in the last decade.  Designed in partnership with Reynard Motorsport, the LMP-1 Roadster-S was a Le Mans Prototype designed to race in the American LeMans Series beginning in 1999.

Racing against titans of the series including BMW, Riley & Scott, Toyota and Ferrari, the Panoz LMP-1 Roadster-S won the Petite Le Mans and finished first in the American LeMans Series LMP team standings in 1999.

See the Panoz LMP-1 Roadster-S show car Friday, Saturday and Sunday at the Mitty. The 1967 Ferrari 330 P4 replica will join the display on Saturday only. When guests visit the booth they will have the opportunity to snap pictures of the cars, buy tickets to The Atlanta Concours d’Elegance, speak with a vintage vehicles expert and sign up for the Concours newsletter.
